Renowned for his expertise in wood inlay and carving, artisan Shiva Kumar devoted six years to creating this exquisite wooden set.
The artwork depicts narratives from the lives of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna, arranged across three distinct panels. Two panels illustrate scenes from the Ramayana, including Sri Rama Pattabhishekam and the Vishwaroopa, while the third portrays Krishna Leela with Lord Krishna and the gopis dancing in the moonlight.
Concealed handles reveal the hidden third panel, showcasing an impressive engineering feat. The hues are achieved through a selection of woods, such as rosewood and ivory wood, and seashells for vibrant colors. The outer frame, adorned with Yali motifs, is hand-carved by the artisan himself.
Awarded a National Merit Certificate in 2010, the artwork is a testament to Shiva Kumar’s skill and dedication to preserving India’s cultural heritage.
