Inspired by the regal bearing of Rajput personages, artisan Mukesh Kumar Soni crafted this pendant cum brooch in the Mughal style of meenakari work.
Completed over three months, the piece showcases uncut diamonds, baroque freshwater pearls, glass, spinels, and 18 to 24-carat gold. Embellished with precious stones and vibrant enamel colors, the pendant features intricate designs on both sides. The Maharaja’s face was embossed on heated metal, and floral patterns were engraved to create cavities filled with enamel paste. Each color was fired separately in a kiln, followed by polishing and the setting of stones to enhance the piece’s luster.
Meenakari, an art form passed down through generations since the Mughal era, originated in Iran but has evolved with Indian creativity, giving it a unique character and beauty.
